Whistler Winter Elopement on Skis: Izabella & Kevin
Izabella & Kevin
Izabella & Kevin have lived between Ottawa & Boston for the last several years for work and family. When COVID hit, they decided to take the restricted travel and start getting more active while discovering the mountains, hiking and skiing. Little did they know that a passion would arise and before they knew it, they could just get enough of being in the mountains.
The feeling of serenity and grounding it provided them individually and as a couple became their escape, their oasis. Upon looking at ideas to tie the knot, knowing that family & Friends where anywhere and everywhere between Ottawa, Brazil, Boston it made them anchor into that feeling they both had when alone in the mountains…from there the idea of an elopement surrounded by mountains landscape became their wish and their hope.
The rest was the easy and fun part.
Our On The Slopes Elopement was exactly what they were looking for. A Full Service that would look after every detail and allow them to experience a day on the mountain on their skis, guided with our photographer ( whom happen to be an ex-national team athlete freestyle skier), Our planner and owner Rachael ( mountain host and avid skier), Celebrant extraordinaire, Linda ( a retired ski instructor) and our videographer, Matt ( freelancer for the likes of Arc’teryx, Whistler/Blackcomb to name a few)….needless to say, Izabella & Kevin were going to be in good hands with our amazing multi-talented local team of vendors.
They decided to stay at one of our favourite Boutique Hotel in Creekside Nita Lake Lodge, a favorite of ours for the warm, cozy atmosphere, the welcoming staff and their typical après ski Cure Lounge & Patio.
We always treasure the quiet moments of getting ready, especially for our whistler elopements as it is often just the couple and us. It’s quiet, serene and as it was the case for Izabella, we were able to have her sisters and mother join via FaceTime which made it extra special.
This quiet time allow us to learn a bit more about our couple and in the case of Izabella, she was able to have a special moment to acknowledge her grandmother with her rosary for a chance to call upon her blessing and support as she looks upon them from a higher place.
We also wanted to take a moment to embrace their first look before heading to the mountain and it could not of been more perfect for a winter wonderland setting.
We did turn a few heads and got quite a few cheers which only highlighted the amazing atmosphere from our local Whistler crowd that is always ready for a good story.
The setting was out of this world with moody clouds that opened up as in right on cue during their intimate ceremony. It was magical, emotional and by the end of their vows, all of us had shed tear.
On the Slopes
Izabella skied like a pro making each turn more beautiful than the last one with her dress dropping and flowing on top of her skis and laughing and smiling the entire time.
Fireplace, Warm socks & Apple Cider
We opted to finish on a high by bringing them back to the Lounge at Nita Lake Lodge by the fire place for a warm apple cider as they change their ski boots to their dress shoes for a beautiful evening of fine dining.
Izabella & Kevin, we cannot thank you enough for your trust, your infectious smile and for once again reminding us of how fortunate with are to combine passion and work by helping couples like yourself “Getting married in the mountains”
